Grading

Do you have water pooling in your lawn or against the foundation of your home? We are here to help! At GreenSpace, we offer soil grading, gravel driveway installation, drainage plans, and more with the help of our bobcat skid steer.

Drainage Improvement

Correct grading guarantees that water is directed away from your property, preventing it from gathering in your yard. This is crucial to avoid problems such as soil erosion, damage to your home's foundation due to water, and the creation of stagnant water which could serve as a breeding site for mosquitoes.

Plant Health

The health of your plants can be greatly influenced by appropriate grading. Water accumulation can oversaturate plant roots, resulting in stunted growth or even plant death. Grading can aid in the equal distribution of water, thereby promoting the well-being of your landscape.

Treatment Description

Treatment1
Pre - Emergent

Pre - Emergent granular herbicide and fertilizer is a great way to prepare your lawn for the upcoming season. The first round is applied in February and helps restore the lawn's health from winter damage while also providing an 8-week barrier against all lawn weeds. The second round is applied in April providing another 8 weeks of weed control coverage.

Broadleaf Herbicide

Broadleaf Selective Herbicides are a safe effective way to control existing lawn weeds. Products like Game On, Momentum, and Tenacity are designed to keep your fescue grass safe while providing strong selective weed control. Herbicides are usually applied in late spring and late summer.

Fungicide

Fungicide applications repair and protect your lawn from diseases like Brown Patch, Dollar Spot, Pythium Blight, and many others. Fungicide is best suited to be applied as a preventative rather than curative treatment. Fungicide applications are recommended during May-August when rain storms are frequent and daytime temperatures exceed 90 degrees/nighttime temperatures are above 70 degrees.

Insecticide

Broad Spectrum Insecticide is applied to kill and prevent grass-feeding insects. Many of these insects live in the soil and grow up as larvae. These insects feed on the lawn as they mature and damage fescue turf. We apply an insecticide in August to prevent armyworms and grubs.

Aerating/Seeding/Fall Fertilizer

The fall (September-November) is a perfect time to revamp your fescue lawn. Aeration breaks up the top 4" of the soil to provide better root structure, more oxygen, improved water drainage, and helps fescue seed establish quickly. Aeration is recommended every year for fescue turf and is done when daytime highs don't exceed 80 degrees consistently. Pure fescue seed and starter fertilizer are also applied at the time of aeration to ensure a beautiful lawn.

Calcitic Lime

Calcitic lime is applied in the fall during the aeration season to neutralize soil acidity and creates optimal soil conditions for fescue turf. Fescue grows best in a soil pH of 5.5-7.5 with anywhere in the 6 range being optimal.

Winter Fertilizer

After the aeration season is finished we apply a high nitrogen-based slow-release winter fertilizer. This round of fertilizer lasts 8-10 weeks and provides the fescue turf with the boost it needs to continue maturing as we enter the winter months. Winter fertilizer helps build the root structure while thickening the blades of the grass. This is ideal for those 25-30 degree winter nights.
